After Portugal's first goal against Uruguay in Group H, questions arose as to whether Cristiano Ronaldo headed the ball, or if it headed straight into Sergio Rochette Alvarez's net.
Bruno Fernandez sent a cross to which Ronaldo rose to enter the net, announcing the goal of the first meeting, after which Ronaldo burst into mad joy, which gave the impression that he was the owner of the goal.
However, after scoring the goal in Ronaldo's name, the accurate replay revealed that the ball did not touch his head, so FIFA decided to attribute the goal to Fernandez on his official website and his accounts on the communication platforms.
FIFA said in a tweet on “Twitter”: “The goal was officially scored in the name of Bruno Fernandes,” after a first tweet indicated that Ronaldo scored the goal.
In the first round, Ronaldo entered the history of the World Cup with his goal against Ghana, as he became the first player to score in 5 copies of the World Cup.
Portugal's victory over Uruguay means that Ronaldo and his companions officially qualify for the round of 16, while the next and final round decides the team that will accompany them, either Uruguay, Ghana or South Korea.
